Emma Shortis is a Lecturer in the Social and Global Studies Centre at RMIT University. Her first book is Our Exceptional Friend: Australia’s fatal alliance with the United States (Hardie Grant Books, 2021). In 2022, her essay ‘American Guns’ was shortlisted for the Calibre Essay Prize.
