Anne Rutherford

Anne Rutherford is an Adjunct Associate Professor (Cinema Studies) at Western Sydney University. She is the author of ‘What Makes a Film Tick?’: Cinematic affect, materiality and mimetic innervation. Her recent work has appeared in The Monthly, Meanjin, [In]Transition and Movie: A journal of film criticism. In 2021 she was awarded the Australian Film Critics’ Association award for best international review. Since 2024 she has edited the Cinema Reborn festival catalogue, an anthology of critical essays on restored cinema classics.
